You know the bit, Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Good ol’ Crispin Glover. Where do I start ? Johnny Depp is so played out… He did OK on his role but I’m just over it… I hate seeing his movies and recognizing the same accents and attitudes… just different makeup, it’s like Charlie and the Chocolate factory all over again! I think that all 3D movies are better then if they were 2D so thank god for that. The movie it self, well… I would much have preferred (like charlie and the chocoloate factory) that they stuck to the original script and just re-did it. What is this alice is a dragonslayer bit ? REALLY ? YOUR HERE TO SLAY DRAGONS ? OK. I get it, it’s from the second book or whatever. The effects were great, the acting was… ok. But over all I wasn’t impressed, I thought Avatar (my last 3d movie) was much better. Maybe because there was nothing to compare it to (as a remake), maybe cuz it wasn’t so hyped up?
Anyway…
Verdict: If you get to the movies and can see it in 3D go watch it, otherwise it’ll be on HBO soon. 6.0/10.
One more thing, following a trend of kids movies not being kids movies, depending on the age of your kid, this movie probably won’t be for them, it’s missing the laughter and jingles from the original.

First of all, not your typical role by Cameron Diaz, she’s joined by James Marsden and Frank Langella.
Going into this one I was thinking some sort of retake on Needful Things, but that was only slightly the case. This movie has a real hitchcock feel / cinematography to it, down to the music!
The movie kind of starts off in one direction and slightly steers towards another as the plot unfolds and gets kinda weird with aliens and stuff, but I enjoyed it. The movie was a good mix of elements, kept you guessing, fed you a little bit, etc. Nothing real gory or anything but it is a little freaky. It was able to keep me interested through out.
7.0/10.

I don’t see what the big deal everyone made of this movie was. I’m sure the book was great but the movie transformation … well ok… you can see the deep ‘kid working out his problems in playland mimicing home’ going on here, but no kids would really pick that undertone up. Second I think kids would be scared of some of the stuff going on and the angryness of some of the characters. I think everyone just _wants_ to like this movie.
I hate it when movies are all hyped up and let you down. It was OK, nothing more. I don’t recommend it for kids, and for yourself ? well … maybe. I’m putting my review at 6.0/10 and let you decide if you need to see it.

Not really any big name actors in this one but I must say this is a great sci fi movie. The storyline and execution were great. I was a little skeptical going into it just seeing the synopsis, but yeah… pleasantly surprised.
Not much else to say other then you should check it out. I’m going with a 7.9/10.

Basically this movie here has been done before… take Crash and take out the racism and the Oscars… it even takes place in LA just like Crash. Well we got a dried up looking Ray Liotta, A somewhat naked Jessica Biel, Forrest Whitaker in his normal role, and the final role of Patrick Swayze looking very Ziggy Stardust.
If it was good enough for Crash to get some Oscars it’s gotta be good. Good it was. 6.5/10.

This one totally swooped under my radar when it came out in 2008. This is your typical Zooey Deschanel movie, with her typical quirky role. It wasn’t bad or anything, just sort of bland. A surprising appearance by John Goodman, wow he’s lookin rough! Anyway yeah… movie… bland… slightly better than average.
I have to put this one in the watch the blockbusters first, then when you need to fill some time watch this one category. Maybe that’s how I missed it on my radar last year. Go figure. 6.3/10.

While the big names in this one are just supporting roles (Jeff Daniels and Maggie Gyllenhaal), the stars are known-yet-lesser-known Maya Rudolph and John Krasinski which I have to say are WELL casted for this movie.
Quirky sorta artsy movie but I dugg it. I don’t really have much to say about it but I recommend netflixing it. 7.2/10.

Awesome, yeah that’s how I’m opening this one up. Well played Mr. Gerard Butler. Not so well Jamie Foxx =( Who else we got? oh yeah Bruce McGill. Anyway without Gerard Butler I’d say this movie would have done way worse, the other roles were kind of weak. Anyway… awesome action in this one, good mystery, bravo! I only got two problems with this movie, one, how Hollywood always thinks the good guys should win in the end, me personally I think the bad guys need to win a few now and then, and the last is minor but district attorney’s shouldn’t be playing detective… c’mon.
Watch this one, if you can still find it in theater’s go, if not add it to your netflix asap or hell it might be worth a friday night PPV. Solid 8.0/10.

Well here’s another example of a movie that could have been better. First off, I don’t think this is a good role for Sandra Bullock, toss in 2 guys from The Hangover, Bradley Cooper and Ken Jeong, A familiar yet still a nobody M.C. Gainey, and I haven’t seen Howard Hesseman since WKRP in Cincinati! And you get a mixed bunch of something that looked good on paper. It’s supposed to be a comedy but it wasn’t that funny, and at the end it turned into some touchy feely stuff.
I gotta go on the low side and drop this one down to maybe a 5.2/10. You’ll end up seeing this movie on TNT I’m sure so don’t even bother renting it.

Wow, lot’s of familiar faces in this one. Jason Bateman, Mila Kunis, Ben Affleck, JK Simmons, David Koechner, and even Gene Simmons!
I thought this movie could be better. It was ok, pretty funny… But there was some parts where you’re like… really? are you that stupid? stupid in the name of comedy? Ok I get it…
Anyway, it was entertaining, not stellar but entertaining. I’m going to give it a 6.3/10.
