Law Abiding Citizen

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

lawabidingcitizenAwesome, yeah that’s how I’m opening this one up.  Well played Mr. Gerard Butler. Not so well Jamie Foxx =( Who else we got? oh yeah Bruce McGill.  Anyway without Gerard Butler I’d say this movie would have done way worse, the other roles were kind of weak.  Anyway… awesome action in this one, good mystery, bravo!  I only got two problems with this movie, one, how Hollywood always thinks the good guys should win in the end, me personally I think the bad guys need to win a few now and then, and the last is minor but district attorney’s shouldn’t be playing detective… c’mon.

Watch this one, if you can still find it in theater’s go, if not add it to your netflix asap or hell it might be worth a friday night PPV.  Solid 8.0/10.

All About Steve

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

allaboutsteveWell here’s another example of a movie that could have been better.  First off, I don’t think this is a good role for Sandra Bullock, toss in 2 guys from The Hangover, Bradley Cooper and Ken Jeong, A familiar yet still a nobody M.C. Gainey, and I haven’t seen Howard Hesseman since WKRP in Cincinati!  And you get a mixed bunch of something that looked good on paper.  It’s supposed to be a comedy but it wasn’t that funny, and at the end it turned into some touchy feely stuff.

I gotta go on the low side and drop this one down to maybe a 5.2/10.  You’ll end up seeing this movie on TNT I’m sure so don’t even bother renting it.

extractWow, lot’s of familiar faces in this one.  Jason Bateman, Mila Kunis, Ben Affleck, JK SimmonsDavid Koechner, and even Gene Simmons!

I thought this movie could be better.  It was ok, pretty funny… But there was some parts where you’re like… really?  are you that stupid?  stupid in the name of comedy?  Ok I get it…

Anyway, it was entertaining, not stellar but entertaining. I’m going to give it a 6.3/10.

I been kinda slack lately

Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

giftedhandsAnother Cuba flick…   I decided to make it a double Cuba header night!  This is a TV movie for TNT, and it plays out like one but it was good, they did a good job with this one, based off a true story.  I enjoyed it.  I still wouldn’t get excited over it but it’s a touching film, has some laughs.  Do like me add it to netflix and squeeze it in sometime. 6.5/10.

Linewatch

linewatchCuba Gooding Jr., I haven’t seen him in any movies in awhile…  The movie started off kind of slow but turned out to be pretty good in the end, mediocre.  Definitely nothing special going on here.  I could see adding this to your netflix queue but don’t go out of your way for this one.  5.8/10.

The Janky Promoters

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

[IMDB Link]  I wasn’t expecting much out of this move, and that’s what I got.  Weak story, ghettoness, a few laughs, some ridiculousness…  Ice Cube, Mike Epps, I’m going to have to recommend avoiding this one unless you catch it on cable, with nothing else on tv. 4.0/10.

House Broken

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

IMDB link. Whew, I can’t believe I made it all the way through this movie.  HORRIBLE.  You would think with Danny DeVito, and Katey Sagal that it can’t be THAT bad, oh but it is!  Bad plot, Bad acting, Bad… omg.  Avoid at all costs.  3.5/10.

Defiance

Monday, January 11th, 2010

defianceWow, very powerful movie.  Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber.  This was a lot better then I suspected, I knew it would be good but this film was directed really really well, put together real nice.  This is another must see.  7.6/10.

Brothers

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

brothersI thought that the preview for this one would have pretty much given the whole movie away, not entirely but it did reveal a good amount of plot.  Turns out the plot is pretty good, everyone did a decent job.  Jake Gyllenhaal, Natalie Portman, Tobey Maguire are in this one.  Solid film, I recommend it. 7.2/10.
