Fido

fidoWhere has this movie been hiding ?  You would think with same familiar faces such as Carrie-Anne Moss, Billy Connolly, Dylan Baker and Tim Blake Nelson I would have at least heard of this movie.  They aren’t big stars but the movie isn’t filled with nobody’s.  Anyway, this movie was a entertaining delight!

You’ve got to have a little sick sense of humor to fully appreciate this one, but if you do you’re in for a treat!  I’m not going to ruin it for you by rambling on.  Add it to your netflix bin and let it be a surprise when it shows up. 7.9/10.

Black Dynamite

blackdynamiteGoing into this one you HAVE to have seen the trailer.  This will prepare you for what you are about to get into.  This movie was great, exactly what it was portrayed to be and it delivers.

A little too over the top at times, like the end sequence, but overall it was a good watch.  Be prepared for stereotypes, a tiny bit of nudity, and to roll every blaxploitation movie you’ve ever seen into one.  I could see them making a part 2 of this series, however there are very few theater’s around showing it.  So little in fact you need to use their web site to find one within 100 miles!  I think it will do better ppv/on demand .

Have a couple drinks, then have a couple laughs.  7.5/10.

9

9Well the first thing to notice about this movie, is it’s not a kids movie.  I think it’s a little too scary for children, and hard to follow.  The visuals are great and the style of art work… the world war I, steampunk, nazi propaganda, apocalyptic feel…

It’s not blatantly clear, but I sense some spiritual, religious-feel of the movie, since everything is mechanical they show the creator of 9 put his soul into these machines and the war machine was consuming their soul’s etc… At the end their souls were free and went up towards the sky.  Hmph.

I wouldn’t rush out and get this one right away but it’s very well done.

6/10.

(500) Days of Summer

Monday, November 16th, 2009

500daysofsummerWhat can I say, how can you not like this movie?  It’s your typical Comedy/Romance.  It has a decent soundtrack and cinematography but I think the voice over narration was a little much.  It made it feel like you’re watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, or Elf.

The movie jumps around a lot and sometimes found myself asking what just happened?  is this a flash back?  Oh… Whatever…I guess… and I like Zooey Deschanel but she always seems to play the same role.

Overall verdict:  It’s worth a watch. 7/10.

I’m now wordpressing it…
